Dear Delegates,
Organising the ISCI Conference during the pandemic times was not an easy task. But at the same time, we felt honoured to be able to organise a conference that gathered together so many researchers, child advocates, and policymakers engaged to discuss child indicators around the globe. The theme of this edition of the Conference is focused on: “ Children's rights and opportunities in an unequal world: research, policies and intervention ”, especially as this Conference is in Latin America where social and economic differences are very large, and also considering that children were among the groups of greater inequality and had their rights impacted by the pandemic. The proposal was to review research, public policies and the possibilities of interventions to address children and adolescents' well-being.
We present the Annals of the Event, with the abstracts of all the papers actually presented at the conference, while we thank the participation of all the delegates who, in person in the post-pandemic period, overcoming all obstacles, came from 24 different countries, to be able to intensely share the three days of the Conference and value ISCI meetings. In this way, the contents presented by the participants in the Conference were classified into a specific theme per day of the event: 25th – Inequalities and subjective well-being; 26th – Public and Social Policies on Child Well-being and 27th – Children's Rights and Vulnerabilities. Not all the presented studies fit the theme of the day, but most of them do.
The Post-graduate Program in Psychology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul hosts the conference. We thank the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and the Research Support Foundation of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (FAPERGS) for its support, without which this conference would not have been possible.
This year, besides the two ISCI awards (ISCI-Impact Award and ISCI-Award in honour of Alfred J. Kahn and Sheila B. Kamerman), we will also have the ISCI-Award in Honour of Christine Hunner-Kreisel. The award is directed to researchers and scholars contributing to multi-cultural and qualitative research that advances our knowledge on children's well-being internationally. The award is intended to support emerging researchers and scholars pursuing research in this field. The ISCI board has nominated those deserving of the awards for their trajectory in favour of children and in the qualification of studies and research in the area. In this Conference, The McCreary Centre Society was selected as the recipient of the ISCI-Impact Award; Irene Rizzini was selected as the recipient of the ISCI Award in Honour of Alfred J. Kahn and Sheila B. Kamerman; and Stella März was selected as the recipient of the ISCI Award in Honour of Christine Hunner-Kreisel.
We wish you all a good reading and research on the topics presented and the possibility of making contact with the colleagues who attended the conference!
